We are a specialist game fishing charter operating of Durban, on the east coast of South Africa. Durban is known as South Africa’s ‘Sunshine State’, and the endless beaches and cosmopolitan culture add to the city’s vibe. Most importantly, Durban is located in excellent fishing territory. Tuna are available all year round, and from December to March the local waters are visited by one of the most prestigious fish species: the Marlin. Both Black and Striped Marlins can be found within 30 miles of the coast, and Blue Marlins can be found further offshore. Mahi-mahi, King Mackerel, Sailfish and Wahoo are also regular visitors to these seas, according to season and conditions.

Additional Terms & Information

100% Refund for all charters cancelled due to inclement weather. Frequently Asked Question: Can I keep the fish I catch? We practice tag and release on all bill fish. We encourage our customers to keep edible fish on a policy of “one for the pan”. Will I get seasick? Seasickness does not affect everyone, Most people will not get seasick depending on the sea conditions. We encourage you to take a motion sickness tablet even if you have been out to sea before. “Stugeron” is available over the counter from all pharmacies. Take one tablet the night before and one tablet on the morning of the charter. A good breakfast is always a good idea before a charter. A hangover is a bad idea!! Can I bring my own tackle? Blu ray is equipped with top of the range Shimano tackle that is specifically setup for the type of fishing we target. We prefer that you do not bring your own tackle and utilize the tackle on board. Are we guaranteed to catch Fish? No guarantees can be given that every charter will be a successful one. We have full confidence in our ability to find the fish, however some days weather conditions, sea conditions, and downright bad luck can play a part in the days catch. Our Crew will do everything in their power to ensure you catch plenty of fish! Where does the departure depart from? The boat is moored and departs from Wilsons Wharf. Safe parking is provided within a short walk from the boat. Please be at the boat at least 20 min before the set departure time. Can we join other people for a charter? Blu Ray is booked strictly on a full charter basis. We do not combine charters, once the boat is booked, it is exclusively yours for the day. Are Bananas allowed on the boat? Ancient Hawaiian folklore stated that bringing bananas out fishing would bring bad luck. We look at it this way, if there was absolutely no truth to this, it would not have spread to every saltwater fishery around the whole word (it has). Better safe than sorry. Leave 'em at home. Whats the rule on tipping? We believe that tipping is a gesture in return for great service. This is not obligatory, please feel free to tip our crew if you wish to, we know they will love it. Do you have a toilet? We have a marine toilet on board. Suitable for no 1’s. Please go before you go if you can!
