Our charter company s is the manifestation of my passion to share sailing with others. It all started before I was born. My mom and dad lived on a sailboat for the first 6 years of their marriage and named her the Genesis because it was the beginning of their love for one another, as well as our family together.I grew up sailing the Genesis with my family until I was 18, which was when we had to sell her due to my father's passing. When I was 24, I bought my own sailboat, a fun Catalina 25, to get back on the water. I sailed that for 6 seasons and after sailing hundreds of my friends, realized I should be sharing my passion on a permanent basis. That's when I decided to start our charter company. I now live on one of the most beautiful ocean cruising sailboats ever built, the Tayana 37, and take people sailing for a living. The Tayana 37 a classic beauty, respectful of yesteryear. And she's aptly named the Genesis to honor my parents, my siblings, and my new beginning.

Additional Terms & Information

Frequently Asked Questions What happens if it rains? I never force my customers to sail in the rain but if you still do want to sail, I have a cabin and a bimini to take cover under so you’ll remain dry. If you decide not to sail, we can try to reschedule and if we can’t find a date that works, I will give a full refund. I also don’t force people to sail when the temperature is below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. I will call the sail off if there is a strong threat of lightning or winds are in excess of 30 miles per hour. What is the typical route? For my four hour charters, I sail as close to the Statue of Liberty as permitted, around Governor’s Island via the Buttermilk Channel, up the East River underneath the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan Bridge and usually past the Williamsburg Bridge (conditions have to be favorable), back down the East River to round Battery Park, and the finally head up the Hudson River to about the equivalent of the Holland Tunnel. If you have a private charter with me, you can customize the route. Is there a bathroom aboard? Yes. What does the charter come with? Picnic sandwiches, apples, chips, water, sodas, ice, cups, etc. all food related items. You can bring additional food as well. I also have a bottle opener and nice plastic wine glasses and plastic champagne flutes on board. Can I bring alcohol? Yes, but I don’t provide alcohol. Will I get seasick? My sailboat has a full keel which makes her more stable than most boats. However, all boats rock. I suggest that you take a motion sickness pill before boarding the boat if you are afraid of getting seasick as the pill takes time to work. Do you allow children aboard? Of course! I’ve been sailing since in my mother’s womb so it would be hypocritical of me to not allow children aboard the Genesis! Children under 12 years of age are required to wear a life jacket, which I provide. Do you have a refrigerator? Yes, but it’s not a full sized refrigerator like you would find in a home. It’s large enough to hold drinks for a charter. Do you have a stereo? Yes – it’s a great stereo that even has subwoofers! I have an auxiliary cord that you can use to plug into the stereo to play music from your phone. You can also bring your charging cord to plug into the stereo’s USB port to keep your phone charged. Do you have Wi-Fi? No but phones do get reception out on the water.
