Introduction to Sailing - A two days course consisting of basic terminology and sail training in preparation for the more demanding - Competent Crew course. It is hands-on course with both days spent at sea learning to be at home on a yacht. - Cost: 1 student R2800. If more than 1 student enrols for the course R2300 each. Competent Crew Course - The syllabus is based on the International Merchant Shipping Act (National Small Vessel Safety) Regulations 2007. These are the only sailing qualifications recognised by the South African Port Authorities and are therefore accepted internationally. - The course includes a comprehensive manual, membership of the prestigious Royal Cape Yacht Club for the duration of the course with secure parking, members' discount in the bars and restaurants and free wifi. New members enrolled by Good Hope Sailing Academy are entitled to a 10% discount for the first year membership fee. Duration: - Either five consecutive Sundays or four consecutive weekdays. The course is taught on our yachts including the final practical examination. Only the final theoretical examination is in our classroom. Certificate of Competence is issued on completion. To register for a course, please deposit R1000 into our Academy. SA Sailing Day Skipper Course - We teach the SA Sailing Syllabus, which is internationally accepted. These are the only sailing qualifications recognised by the South African Port Authorities. SA Sailing is directly responsible to SAMSA which is a statutory body. Duration - Weekend course: - Practical: Five consecutive Saturdays from 10h00 to 17h30, and one evening sailing. - Theory: Five Tuesdays from 18h30 to 22h00. Duration - Full-time Day Skipper course: - Four consecutive weekdays theory, and four consecutive weekdays practical sailing from 10h00 to 17h30. Duration - Full-time Theory course: - This course is aimed at yachtsmen who are in complete control of their yacht at sea but need to know more about navigation, colregs and GPS. - Four consecutive weekdays theory, and four consecutive weekdays practical sailing from 10h00 to 17h30. Successful candidates will pass the internationally accepted. SAS Day Skipper Practical and Theory Exams. To register for a course, please deposit R1000 into our Academy. Short Range Certificate (SRC) Radio Operator Certification for Non-SOLAS vessels - The cost of the course is R1500. A comprehensive manual is included. SAMSA registration and exams fees are excluded.
