We spend the entire day targeting these very tasty fish miles away from home. An average halibut is 20-40 lbs but I've seen them over 400 lbs. What better place than Homer, Alaska, the Halibut fishing capital of the world, to fish for these "Barn Doors". Be prepared for a serious arm workout and to dance the "Halibut shuffle"! Halibut will give you one of the most fulfilling fishing experiences you'll ever have. Our Salmon trips take anglers out into the Cook Inlet or Kachemak Bay to target the many species of Salmon found in Alaskan waters. Depending on the time of year, we could catch one or more different species of salmon on one trip. We mainly target King and Silver Salmon but can also catch Red, Pink, and Chum Salmon, all of which are great to eat too. King Salmon "spawners" are our main target in May when they're heading to the rivers on the Kenai Peninsula. Silver Salmon become our target species in late July into August. King Salmon fishing starts up again later in August and September when the "feeders" from Canada and Washington are here and hungry. Salmon trips are a lot of fun and can be non-stop action when the bite is on. Our Harders Charters combo trips entail targeting both Halibut and Salmon on the same trip. At times both species may be found in the same area while at other times they are miles apart. This gives our anglers a unique opportunity to experience two different styles of Alaska fishing. Our Trawler is can accommodate up to 12 people.

Captain Ethan left his island home on Maui and visited Homer, Alaska for the very first time back in 2009, as a young college student who loved to fish and who loves the ocean. It was then that he began his Alaska fishing journey with thanks to the Chow family, and started as a first-year deckhand for Bob's Trophy Charters. A year later he became a deck hand for Mike on the Arctic Addiction, where he learned valuable fishing techniques and gained the experience of becoming a wise yet "Hard-Core" Alaska fisherman. With Manns Charters, he learned how to brave the elements of Kachemak Bay - Barren Islands while filleting a 6 pack full day's catch stirred with 6-7ft swells. Two years with Manns Charters ended in 2013 when Captain Ethan earned his stripes as a first-year charter fishing boat captain with Big Bear Halibut Charters in 2014. After his first year of running the Bear Force II, Captain Ethan became determined to run his own boat one day and foresaw it only to be a far distant fantasy. Running the Bear Force II for the very last time now in 2015, Captain Ethan will now live his fantasy this coming 2016 season as he opens up his very own Charter Fishing company along with his wife "Kay" Kaha'iola Harders.
