Rates: Full Day trips (8 hours) • 1-2 people: $300 • 3 people: $400 • 4 people: $500 For larger parties or company outings, it is possible to book both of our boats for the day. We will fish within close proximity of each other, maintain contact via radio, and can even tie up our two boats and light the grill for lunch on the water! What You Can Expect: Come catch a trophy blue or flathead catfish with us. Come fish with us on beautiful Kerr Lake, home of the 143 lb world record blue catfish! The best and most affordable catfish guide on the lake, our Captain has 10+ years of experience on the lake. We specialize in catching catfish, but we also offer trips targeting striped bass and white perch during certain times of the year. The Lake John H. Kerr Reservoir, also known as Buggs Island, is a 50,000 acre impoundment with over 850 miles of shoreline. The lake lies on the border of North Carolina and Virginia and is maintained by the Army Corp of Engineers. The lake is fed by the Dan and Staunton Rivers, and outflows into the Roanoke River. The primary forage in the lake are gizzard shad, threadfin shad, and blueback herring. The lake is well known for largemouth bass, crappie, and striper fishing…but it made headlines in June of 2011 when Nick Anderson caught a new world record blue catfish! The fish weighed 143 pounds….over thirteen pounds more than the previous world record. What To Expect Onboard: We fishes out of a 20 foot Angler with a 150 HP Suzuki 2-stroke and Lowrance electronics. Both boats are fully customized with rod racks and LED lighting. Both boats also have a V-hull and deep sides, to ensure you have a smooth ride and stay dry, no matter the conditions. A windshield on each boat protects you from the elements, and both boats have partial enclosures for those cold or rainy days. Both boats have Minnkota trolling motors mounted on the bow. All neccessary safety equipment is provided, and there is plenty of storage for coolers and extra gear. What to Bring All fishing gear will be provided. This includes rods, reels, tackle, bait, etc. If you would like to bring your own gear, feel free. Just be sure to check with the captain beforehand to make sure your gear is up to the task of tackling the fish we will be targeting. Be sure to dress appropriately! Even in warmer months, an early morning boat ride can be a bit chilly. If the sun will be out, we highly recommend that you bring sunscreen and a good pair of shades! Insect repellent also comes in handy, especially on night fishing trips. We do not provide food/drinks, so be sure to pack a lunch and plenty of water. A cooler with ice will be provided, however if you would like to keep any fish be sure to bring your own cooler/ice. We do not clean your catch! Most folks also like to bring a camera along to document the trip. Your captain will also have a camera on board to make sure that your catch is well documented. It is the responsibility of each individual on the boat to obtain a valid freshwater fishing license prior to the trip. Since Kerr Lake lies on the border of NC and VA, licenses from either state are accepted. Fishing licenses can be purchased at Walmart or at most large tackle shops.

I’m Wes “Redbeard” Jordan, the owner and operator of the business. I grew up in rural NC, an avid outdoorsman from a very young age. At the age of 20, I began targeting big catfish and striper on Kerr Lake. A couple of years later, what started out as a weekend hobby became an obsession for me. After catching my first citation catfish, I began dedicating every minute of my free time to trying to figure out the amazing fishery that is Kerr Lake. Now, 12 years and countless giant fish later, I genuinely enjoy sharing the experience with others! I am sponsored by Pautzke Bait Co, Big Cat Fever Rods, NC Marine Fabrication, and Fishbite Rod Holders. When I am not on the water, I work at Duke hospital helping to manage a heart surgery unit. I spend what little free time I have hanging out with my awesome wife and our dogs, hiking, working outside, gardening, playing music, and volunteering with the Big Brothers Big Sister’s program. Thanks for reading and I look forward to fishing with you soon!

Rules Below are just a few guidelines to help make sure we have a safe day out on the water! 1.) For insurance reasons, we do not allow alcohol on the boat . Sorry! 2.) It is your responsibility to obtain a fishing license. It is not uncommon to run into the game warden while on the water, so make sure you are prepared. 3.) Per state law, anyone 13 years of old or younger MUST wear a life jacket when the vessel is underway. 4.) I have a strict catch and release policy on catfish over 15 pounds. This helps ensure that we preserve our trophy fishery for future generations. Don’t worry, there will be plenty of smaller fish to keep if you would like! 5.) We do not clean your catch! If you would like to keep fish to eat, it is your responsibility to bring a large cooler and ice so that you can keep your catch fresh until you are able to clean them. 6.) Have fun! Fishing isn’t about rules…it is about relaxing and enjoying your time in the outdoors. Terms and Conditions While not required, it is customary to tip your captain! Our full day trips run 8 hours, but we can always bring you back to the dock earlier if you would like. We offer both morning & evening trips year round, as well as night trips from May-October.
